Description: Germany, 1956. The war has long subsided, but its echo still rings in the ears of those who crave justice. In The Darkest Files, you are Esther Katz, a young prosecutor, which only stepped on the threshold of the special department Fritz Bauer, the legendary hunter for the Nazis. There is no place for loud battles, but there are piles of old papers, interrogations of witnesses and courts, where each step is like a move on thin ice. You will find the real cases of past years: crimes that are dusting in the archives while their perpetrators go free. The task is simple and complex at the same time – to collect evidence, bring the truth to the light and prove it in the face of those who would prefer to forget. And the world around is gloomy, drawn in muffled blue and yellow colors, as if torn from a noir comic book.
Where to start? Maybe from the conversation at the interrogation table, where every word of the witness is a piece of puzzle. Or from the archive where the yellowed pages whisper about the past. Gameplay is a dance between logic and intuition: you build a chain of events like an architect of justice, and then carry it to the court. There, under the hum of voices and shadows of the past, your work is checked. Esther is not one – next to his colleagues, from the secretary of Paula to the Kot Marlene, which purrs in the corner of the office. The visual catches: the shadows play on the walls, and the world comes to life in the memoirs of witnesses, where you can rummage in things and look for tips.
The game does not let go-either because of the atmosphere where jazz mixes with a rustle of papers, or because of the feeling that you really change the course of history. There is a mode for those who love puzzles are harder: no clues, only you are. And you can just swim with the plot, enjoying how secrets reveal. After the trial – the assessment: how convincing you were, how deeply dug. And yes, there are no invented villains – all cases are real, although names, except Bauer, have been changed.
