Description: DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake – a reimagining of two classic JRPGs, made in the signature HD-2D style: 2D sprites against the backdrop of detailed 3D locations. The games retain the spirit of the 80s originals, but with modern visual content – from shimmering water to spectacular spell animations. In the first part, you play as a single hero, a descendant of Erdrick, who goes to Alfgard to defeat the Dragonlord. This is a simple story of good and evil, without unnecessary twists – but with a sense of pure adventure, like in the old days.
The second part expands the scope: you now have a team of four characters – three nephews of the hero of the first game and a new heroine, Princess Cannock, whose role is significantly expanded. Each one has their own character and their dialogues add to the story of life. The combat system remains turn-based, but receives new elements: skills from parchments, sigils that enhance attacks when health is low, and more enemies in random encounters. The difference in tactics is especially noticeable – in DQI, each move decides the outcome of the battle, and in the second part you can compensate for the mistake at the expense of the team.
Both games received convenient improvements: target markers, faster battles, mini-maps, the ability to turn on or turn off hints for authenticity. Mini-medals have appeared – they give you powerful weapons. The music performed by a symphony orchestra sounds majestic, and remastered graphics create the atmosphere of a fairy-tale world. These are not just remakes – they are a tribute to the origins of the genre, where nostalgia is combined with comfortable gameplay.
