Description: Thrive: Heavy Lies the Crown transfer you to the role of a ruler whose crown is not a privilege, but a burden that requires daily difficult solutions. In this medieval strategic simulator, you head the remains of the once great empire, trying to build a new kingdom on the ruins of the old. But the land that has taken to you is full of dangers – from a lack of resources to the mysterious Welgrim, ancient evil, slowly penetrating the world of people.
The gameplay combines deep urban development with political intrigues. Each building needs to be placed wisely – farms require proximity to barns, houses should be in the reach of wells, and workshops need constant supply of materials. Your subjects are not just a resource, but living people with their needs: they rebel with high taxes, get sick under poor sanitary conditions, leave the city with a lack of food. Advisers from Kuria constantly offer solutions, but their motives are not always clean – some care about the well -being of the people, others pursue personal goals.
Three key elements give a special depth of the game. Firstly, the system of edicts-laws that you can introduce, getting advantages for a certain price. Secondly, a technological tree with a constant choice between mutually exclusive improvements. And finally, Welgrim is a mystical threat that manifests itself through random events: it spoils the crop, then sends diseases, and sometimes offers power in exchange for moral compromises.
