Historical reliability here is not just a decor: buildings are growing not according to the template, but as living organisms – a house with atria, a forum with a precisely designed space for speakers, an amphitheater, where plebeians crowded in standing places. But beauty is only a visible part. The hungry riots, fires, plague and whims of the emperor (who suddenly decides that your city is an ideal place for linking objectionable) will require not only resources, but also cold calculation. Do you want peace? We will have to balance between bread, spectacles and a subtle game with neighbors, whose legions are asleep at the borders.
Setting is not just an ancient Rome, but its periphery: the wild lands of Gaul and Germany, where every new temple or port is a step of civilization in chaos. There are no combat mechanics, but there is a policy: you dance under the tune of the Senate – get the right to build a Coliseum, accumulate wealth – you can buy a position. And yes, there are slaves, the temples of Jupiter and the grunt of citizens who do not like the price of wine. Everything is like in a history textbook, only you are not a reader, but an author.
