Description: XENOBREAKERS: Classic Tower Defense is not just another tower defense, but a tactical adrenaline rush on the desert planet of Kernas. After the crash of the Lockwood transport, you have to lead Billy’s squad through 16 levels infested with giant insects, battle droids and other abominations in the spirit of Starship Troopers. But instead. assault rifles, you have five types of towers at your disposal – from standard machine gun nests to specialized flamethrowers and sniper towers, each with two upgrade branches. Forget about standard solutions: here you have to take into account that some beetles crawl underground, others fly, and bosses completely ignore half of your attacks.
What makes a game special? Firstly, the active ability system – you can call in an airstrike or freeze the crowd while the towers are recharging. Secondly, 48 improvements that radically change the balance: from a free first tower to increased damage against specific types of enemies. And yes, if you fail a level, you can always reset your skills and redistribute medals for completing it. Visually, XENOBREAKERS resembles a painted comic book: cel-shading, smoking pipes and splashes of acidic greenery during explosions. There are also 12 hand-drawn pages that tell Billy’s story between missions.
The choice of difficulty is not just a formality here. On “easy” the waves are launched manually, and on “hardcore” you have one life, a minimum of rewards and a ban on the redistribution of talents. The levels with “ravers” stand apart – these creatures don’t just stupidly run towards the gate, but use shields and teleportation, forcing you to reconsider your entire defense. XENOBREAKERS is not trying to reinvent the wheel, but brings the classics of the genre to shine: there is a challenge for perfectionists (all stars for levels), and a pleasant crunch of tactics, when well-placed towers crush the crowd in seconds.
