Description: Synergy is not just another urban planning simulator, but a meditative trip to a distant planet, where humanity is trying to revive among the ruins of a forgotten civilization. Instead of the usual farms and sawmills, you have to study the alien flora: some plants give edible fruits with neat collection, others release toxins when destroyed, and others – like that strange purple bush – may be generally reasonable. Each solution here affects the fragile eco -balance: you can thoughtlessly cut down the forest for building materials, but then your colonists will nowhere close to hide from the scorching sun.
The gameplay combines the depth of the classics of the genre like Pharaoh with a science fiction surroundings. Water requires cleaning from toxins, expeditions to ruins bring artifacts for research, and seasonal climate changes either dry water bodies or cause storms. The system of areas is especially impressive: placing buildings in the radius of the central squares, you create unique boosts – the scientific quarter accelerates progress, and cultural increases the mood of the inhabitants. All this was presented through an amazing visual style, as if coming from the pages of comics: pastel colors, smooth animations and detailed frescoes in events.
But the true magic of Synergy is in its philosophical approach to survival. There is no rubbing from Frostpunk or a constant threat of hunger. Yes, your researchers can die, hypnotized by the “flickering light” in the caves, and the wrong choice at the intersection will lead to an epidemic. However, the game encourages not a hurry, but thoughtful creation: make gardens, establish trading with neighboring settlements and observe how the city with libraries, workshops and even … underground newspapers that are printed on the ancient press found in the camp grows.
