Description: Lurking Danger immerses you in the gloomy atmosphere of survival, where each shadow can be a deadly threat. You play for Elena and Regina – two waitresses, whose usual shift in the diner turns into a nightmare when they face inexplicable horrors. The game masterfully combines the elements of the classic Survival Horror with psychological stress: you have to not only run away from monsters, but also solve riddles, each of which brings closer to unraveling the dark secret. Interactive locations are especially impressive – creaky corridors, rooms with changing geometry and even, it seems, living walls that seem to monitor your actions.
A distinctive feature of Lurking Danger is a cooperative mode with a separated screen, where you can unite with a friend to unravel the plot together. You have to distribute resources, solve puzzles (sometimes under the pressure of time) and make complex decisions – for example, what to do with the characters met. Each dialogue and action affect the development of history, adding reiglable. At the same time, the game does not forget about the corner horror: the fighting is minimal here, the emphasis is on avoiding threats and strategic thinking. The atmosphere is complemented by sound design – rustles, steps behind their backs and sudden screamers are kept in suspense until the last minute.
The visual style of the game balances between the retro chorror and modern graphics. The locations are worked out in such a way as to scare not only monsters, but also the very atmosphere: scattered documents, blood puddles, unnaturally curved doors. The enemies look really creepy-they do not just attack, but as if playing with you, then appearing, then disappearing in the dark. Add here several levels of complexity, an inventory system and unobvious endings – and get a horror that will like the fans of Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
