Description: Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch is not just another tactical RPG, but a strange hybrid of Fire Emblem and Darkest Dungeon, where each death doesn’t just teach – it reveals fragments of a forgotten memory. You wake up on a cursed island without a past, only with a halberd trembling in your hand and the hoarse voice of a witch in your head, promising answers. Around you is a team of the same lost ones: a former executioner with a conscience, a book magician who always drops tomes, and an archer who swears that she saw you in nightmares.
The gameplay is based on the classic grid system – positioning, cover, attacking from behind – but with a key twist: it’s roguelite. Each unsuccessful attempt to clear the island of the undead leaves a mark in the form of permanent improvements: you can pump up crits for the entire group or unlock a new branch in the skill tree. But the missions themselves last an hour, and random events (either you will be offered a pact with a demon, or you will be forced to choose which of your allies to feed to hungry ghosts) make each visit unpredictable. Magic here is not just a flash of light, but a risky tool: set fire to the grass to block the approach of enemies, but do not suffocate yourself in the smoke.
Visually, the game balances between dark engravings (the characters seem to have stepped out of the pages of a medieval bestiary) and functional 3D location graphics. The special charm is in the details: when a magician, in a panic, throws a book at the enemy instead of a spell, or when your shield-bearer, dying, whispers: “This time, remember us.” If you are ready for brutal but fair tactics, where even victory leaves a bitter aftertaste, this island is already waiting for you.
