Description: Inspector Schmidt – The Ebbing immerses you in an atmospheric detective in the spirit of classic English novels, transferred to the North German coast of 1870. The young inspector Schmidt arrives in the idyllic town of Havstedt in the hope of a relaxing vacation, but the sudden death of a local telegraph operator draws him into an investigation, where technological progress (just laid transatlantic cable), old superstitions and gloomy secrets of the coastal community are intertwined.
The game combines detective mechanics with RPG elements: you have to examine locations, collect evidence, analyze witnesses (fully voiced by German actors with characteristic dialects) and even hide from the dangers of marshy areas. The main feature is the conclusions system: find hidden relationships between facts to bring the suspects to clean water. Support the character skills through cubic checks, create useful items and affect the final – the game has several endings depending on your solutions.
