Description: Deck of Haunts offers an unusual look at the genre of the diaichbilders-here you are not a hero fighting monsters, but the damned estate itself, longing for human souls. Your goal is to survive 28 nights, methodically destroying or driving crazy visitors, from ordinary tourists to armed policemen and priests with exorcist intentions.
The gameplay is built around two key mechanics: managing the deck of maps and expanding the house. Maps allow you to inflict damage, depleted the minds of victims or manipulate them with movement, and new rooms – from weapons to mirror halls – enhance effects. A special charm is added by random features of visitors: someone ignores the corpses, and someone, on the contrary, takes off at the sight of blood. The visual style combines the gloomy Gothic with the raid of irony-the moment is especially funny when the next “daredevil” enters the house with some phrase.
Despite the apparent simplicity, Deck of Haunts requires strategic planning. Success depends on how well you combine cards and think through the labyrinth of the rooms to lure guests into traps. True, the balance is lame yet: some combinations of cards make passing trivial, and the final “boss” sharply increases complexity.
