Description: UNBEATABLE is a rhythm game with a sharp plot and daring visuals, where music is outlawed and you play as Beat, a singer who, together with her musician friends, challenges the repressive regime. In this world, even a whistle in the corridor can cause the appearance of mysterious creatures called Silence, and your every performance is an act of resistance. The story takes place in a late-’90s-style setting where 2D-style anime characters come to life in detailed 3D locations, from abandoned concert halls to city streets and sewer tunnels.
The gameplay combines two modes: narrative Story and pure arcade. In battle, everything is based on a simple but clever system – there are only two buttons, but they control attacks in four directions: top/bottom and left/right. Note enemies rush towards you, and you, jumping between lines, destroy them to the beat of punk rock, lo-fi and electronica. The difficulty increases unobtrusively, but by the end even veterans of the rhythm genre will be sweating. Moreover, each track is not just a level, but part of the plot: concerts, clashes with the police and dramatic monologues are all tightly tied to music.
The story mode offers about 10 hours of adventure with unexpected twists, warm humor and friendships that become real support. The characters – Beat, Quaver, Treble and Clef – are alive, with personalities and internal conflicts, and their dialogue rings with sincerity, even when the plot accelerates to almost apocalyptic proportions. True, between battles you will have to run around a lot and look for clues – the game is in no hurry to reveal its cards and leaves room for thought.
UNBEATABLE is more than a rhythm game: it is a hymn to creative freedom, packaged into a vibrant, vibrant and sometimes chaotic experience. Even if not everything turns out perfectly, the ending leaves a warm, inspiring aftertaste – as if you yourself played the last note in a forbidden song.
