Description: SLEEP AWAKE is a psychological horror game with elements of a walking simulator, where you play as Katya, forced to stay awake in a world consumed by a mysterious threat called The Hush. To fall asleep means to disappear, and in order not to succumb to fatigue, the heroine drips a stimulating serum into her eyes, which keeps her on the edge of reality and hallucinations. You explore the dark streets of a ruined city, abandoned theaters and disturbing memories where walls breathe and turnstiles suddenly turn into meat grinders.
The gameplay combines exploration, simple puzzles and sneaking past enemies – most often gas masks with batons, which can be avoided by hiding under bars or not looking them in the eyes. Visually, the project stands out: surreal visions, live actors in cut scenes and sharp flashes of light create an unsettling, almost epileptic atmosphere, which is worth warning about photosensitivity.
The story here is fragmented – through diaries, files and notes scattered throughout the world. Katya herself, by the way, expresses herself too strongly, but her fatigue and pain are felt sincerely. Although the tension builds slowly, the second half features some truly creepy moments – especially one enemy you can’t look at in the face and a soundtrack that makes you turn around in the dark.
