Description: System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is an updated classic and a carefully restored masterpiece, which retained its terrible atmosphere and a complex gameplay. The action takes place aboard the von Brown spacecraft, where you are waiting for the struggle with an alien threat and rebellious AI. The new version retains the branded gloomy style of the original, but updates models, textures and animations, making the game visually modern, but without losing the original spirit.
The gameplay remained the same: you are studying the confusing compartments of the ship, collect audio recordings with the stories of the dead crew members, choose the development path of the character-from a hacker technique to a psionic with telekinesis and fire balls. The battles are still tense: the weapon breaks quickly, and the cartridges and medicines are running out, but tactical flexibility compensates for strict conditions. For the first time in the history of the game, a full -fledged cooperative campaign appeared, allowing you to go through the whole plot in the company of friends – albeit with some compromises.
The narrative also did not lose relevance: this is a slowly revealed story of betrayal, madness and supercount, inspired by Bioshock and Prey. Let the mechanics look outdated in places, and the ending seems a little crumpled, the original level design and the depth of pumping are still left behind many modern RPGs. If you missed the System Shock 2 in 1999, now it is the best moment to catch up.
