Description: Stalker: Clear Sky – Enhanced Edition begins where the issues of Shadow of Chernobyl ended – in stuffy swamps on the border of the zone, where fate throws you under the name Shram. This is not just a prequel, but a cruel sandbox, where each group encountered is not a decoration, but a living force with its own interests. “Svobodovites” can trade with you today, and tomorrow to demand a tribute for passing through their territory if you are too carried away by helping “duty”. Enhanced Edition only enhances this fragility of the world: the new textures of dirt on the armor and refraction of light in puddles make swamps gloomy, and the processed AI turns clases for control points into unpredictable surprises.
The main innovation of Clear Sky is not graphic improvements (although the thunderclines now look like living), but mechanics of fractional wars. You can watch for hours how the detachment of mercenaries storms the military base, and then choose abandoned grenade launchers – or quietly put a couple of rounds with mercury to the “bandits” to facilitate their defeat. The system of artifacts also received depth: the scanner now does not just squeak next to an anomaly, but shows the distribution of fields, forcing to calculate a safe path to a precious “droplet”. Of course, in the Enhanced Edition, all these little things sparkle with new shaders, but the spirit of the game is in the same whirling balance between profit and survival.
A special charm is in details that were previously lost in technical restrictions. Now you can see how drops of acid rain are corroding the barrel of the rifle left by the fire, and with night shootings in the red forest, tracing bullets leave terrible light loops in the air. Even familiar locations like the agricultural warehouses are transformed: rusty beams discard realistic shadows, and the sounds of steps on metal lattices are echoed. This is the same Clear Sky – cruel, unpredictable, but now also frighteningly tangible.
