Description: SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide is a vibrant 3D platformer where you play as two SpongeBob and Patrick from the very beginning, switching between them at any time using their signature friendship rings. Instead of the usual collection of sparkles and simple jumps, here you will find a thoughtful system of complementary abilities: SpongeBob uses a karate kick for springy jumps and bubbles to activate switches, and Patrick digs underground, drags enemies and objects, and later even gets grappling. Their skills are intertwined in clever platforming chains, where one opens the path, and the second uses it – and all this happens almost without pause.
The plot revolves around a childhood quarrel between the Flying Dutchman and King Neptune over a place in line at the Krustycrab – classic series absurdity, but presented with lively dialogue, recognizable voices of the original cast, and animation that looks like it was ripped straight out of the episode. The world is divided into several large zones, including oceanic islands and underwater ruins, and the main base is the Krustykrab, turned into a flying pirate ship. Here you take on tasks from Squidward, Mrs. Puff and even Karen – and every feeling is in the spirit of the animated series, be it helping Mr. Krabs with a commercial or finding missing Krabby Patties.
The mechanics of ghost platforms give the game a special charm: by switching the color of the “ghost lamp”, you make hidden paths appear right in the air, combining this with switching between heroes on the fly. There are dynamic slide sections, ghost board rides, and even mini-bosses with recognizable references. Titans of the Tide doesn’t try to be complex – it’s just fun, smooth, and genuinely true to the spirit of SpongeBob.
