Description: Of Ash and Steel is a classic action RPG in the spirit of Gothic and Risen, where you are thrown into a hostile world without a map, markers or clues. You are Tristan, a cartographer from Astartia, who finds himself on the island of Greyshft after an attack on a ship. Your mission is to find the stolen document, but first you just need to survive. At the beginning you are almost nothing: weak, inept, with minimal equipment. But over time – through training, crafting, research – you decide who the hero will become.
The world is cruel and is in no hurry to help. No signs, just vague advice from NPCs. Want to get to the city? Search for yourself. It’s okay to get lost. Battles require tactics: manage your stamina, parry, dodge. The early game is slow, almost survival: one wrong step and even a regular enemy will kill you. The weapons are varied – daggers, rapiers, bows, axes – but they can be used effectively only after leveling up the necessary skills.
There are three main factions in the game: the noble Order, free Hunters and smugglers, grave diggers, bounty hunters – each with their own tasks and rewards. You can only join one, which affects the development of the plot. There is crafting, theft, a reputation system, an economy where each item has a price.
If you are ready for a challenge, a huge world without borders awaits you, where every decision has weight, and progress is the result of effort, and not a gift from the system. This is not a comfortable modern action game. This is a challenge – just like in 2001. For those who are patient and love real RPGs.
