Description: The Berlin Apartment is an adventure simulator with the soul of Berlin in every detail: over 70 years of history, you look into the same apartment through the eyes of different residents – from an emigrant during the Nazi era to a writer in the GDR. The game does not require solving puzzles or running – the important thing here is to listen, look and touch things, because every object is the key to someone else’s life. You will pack your suitcases in a hurry, fly airplanes over the wall and decorate the Christmas tree in a destroyed house, feeling how the era is squeezed into the walls of four rooms.
The visuals here are a special pleasure: the interiors are reborn with time, from pompous antique furniture to the dull functionality of social services. The atmosphere is supported by music selected for each era and excellent German voice acting, which makes everything even more alive. Mini-interactions – watering flowers, tearing off wallpaper, going through boxes – are simple but appropriate: they do not distract from the story, but are woven into it like everyday rituals of memory.
The stories are short, personal and sometimes painfully honest. They do not form a single plot – rather, into a mosaic of lost destinies, where each tile is a separate portrait of an era. You are not a hero, not a savior, but rather a guest who has been entrusted with touching the past. And although some episodes seem too static, overall the game remains a warm, almost intimate experience – like leafing through someone else’s old album, sitting in silence after the rain.
