Description: Neon Inferno is a bloody neon run-and-gun in the spirit of the 90s classic, where you, as cyberpunk mercenaries Angelo or Mariana, break through the ruins of New York in 2055, destroying the mafia, corrupt cops and yakuza in a cloud of pixelated explosions. The game takes the best from Contra, Metal Slug and Wild Guns, but adds its own: you don’t just run to the right – you need to simultaneously shoot at both the foreground and background, where enemies are hiding behind billboards and neon signs.

The combat system requires attention and dexterity: you can not only deflect green bullets, but by holding the button, slow down time and redirect the shot at another enemy – even into a distant background. This is especially helpful in fights with giant mechs and multi-phase bosses, where simply shooting is no longer enough. Covers, high-speed motorcycle chases, jumping between platforms and trying not to hit civilians (otherwise the mission score will be reduced) add variety to the non-stop action.

The visuals are amazingly detailed: every frame looks like the cover of a vinyl album with synthwave and ragged guitars, and the atmosphere seems to be ripped out of Blade Runner and RoboCop. Yes, the weapon system isn’t perfect—special barrels are purchased before a mission and disappear after use—but even with a standard pistol, the game remains an adrenaline-pumping machine. Turn on the co-op, select a filter for the old CRT monitor and go ahead – the city is on fire, and all you have to do is set it on fire even brighter.
