Description: Verho – Curse of Faces is a dark RPG in the spirit of King’s Field, where every face is hidden behind a mask, because one look and you both die. The action takes place in the world of Yariv, scarred by a curse born in an ancient battle of magicians. You choose a mask – and therefore an initial role: thief, warrior or mystic – but nothing fetters you forever. As you level up, three points per level allows you to mix styles: a thief sets enemies on fire, and a swordsman learns to cast spells. Everything here is in the spirit of exploration – no map, no journal, just a compass, memory and your curiosity.
Combat requires attention: each weapon behaves differently – a rapier throws you forward, a heavy hammer keeps you in place, and a bow saves you from ambushes in narrow corridors. Enemies are deadly from the start, but the world spawns them with each save, giving you a chance to hone your tactics and level up in the early zones. Secrets are hidden in barrels, poisonous lakes and item descriptions – sometimes the solution to a puzzle is in your inventory, but you don’t know it yet.
The atmosphere here is the main character: dim light, creaking steps on stone, ghostly voices of NPCs, behind which are the stories of survivors of the Age of Solitude. If you’ve been missing those times when games made you think and not just react, it’s time to put on a mask and step into a cursed world where every turn could be your last.
